Cleaning: it may not be the most enjoyable task, but it is important. A clean home or tidy workplace creates a healthy and pleasant living or working environment.
Moreover, it can contribute to a sense of calm and better concentration.
In this blog, we share 5 tips to make cleaning as easy and effective as possible.
These are, of course, methods we also apply during our professional cleaning assignments.
1. Create a cleaning schedule
A cleaning schedule is a practical way to ensure you keep everything in your home or workplace under control. Make a list of all areas and decide how often they should be cleaned. For example: the bathroom weekly, the kitchen daily, the bedroom monthly, or in a business setting the meeting room daily, the reception area daily, the offices every two days… This way, everything gets cleaned on time and you avoid forgetting anything.
For our teams, we work with task cards and a logbook.
2. Work from top to bottom
When you start cleaning, it’s best to work from top to bottom. Begin by dusting the highest shelves and gradually work your way down.
This prevents dust or dirt from falling onto areas you have already cleaned.
This working method is also included in our task cards.
3. Use the right cleaning products
There are many different cleaning products on the market, but not all of them are suitable for every surface.
An aggressive cleaning product, for example, can scratch a delicate floor. Always read the instructions carefully before using a product.
In some cases, it’s better to choose natural cleaning products such as vinegar and baking soda. These are not only more environmentally friendly but also more affordable.
We exclusively use eco-friendly products. We know that a minimal amount is sufficient to achieve the desired result, and in doing so, we contribute to protecting the environment.
4. Clean in a logical order
When you begin cleaning, it’s helpful to follow a logical order.
For example, start by tidying up loose items such as cushions and magazines before vacuuming.
This prevents unnecessary back-and-forth movement and helps you work more efficiently.
5. Make it easier and more enjoyable
Cleaning doesn’t have to be an unpleasant chore. By making it easier for yourself, it becomes much more enjoyable. You could put on a motivating playlist while cleaning or create a pleasant scent with a candle or diffuser. It can also help to schedule cleaning at a time when you have the most energy, such as in the morning.
With these tips, you’ll regain a clear and organized view of cleaning your home or workplace. So don’t postpone it any longer—get started. Good luck.
